Your editorial accusing the state government of fleecing county taxpayers (Monitor, Jan. 14) fails to mention that those who are passing these laws are also members of our county government. Every state representative is a member of the county delegation with full budget authority over county operations. So those who are fleecing county taxpayers are our own state representatives. They are the real reason that county budget spending is completely out of control. We have seen double-digit budget increases in Merrimack County for many years. County taxes are hurting our property owners and our local governments.
