What Was Really Going On?
On August 29-30, six nuclear warheads were inadvertently transported aboard a B-52 from a military base in Minot, N.D., to one in Barksdale, La. None of the crew realized they were transporting live nukes. The warheads remained on the plane, unguarded, for several hours before the error was discovered. Last week, Air Force officials released their investigation into the incident. They attributed it to "lackadaisical" – they used that term – non-adherence to the elaborate protocol set up to assure safe accounting for the thousands of nuclear warheads in the U.S. arsenal. Some 70 Air Force personnel, including high-level officers, were disciplined; the two bases involved were decertified as nuke handlers. They noted it was unprecedented in the 62 years of the nuclear age. Does this explanation make sense? The idea that this event is actually part of an elaborate lot to stage a "false flag" event somewhere in the world, blame it on terrorists and use it as an excuse to declare martial law or invade Iran would seem preposterous, fantastical, even paranoid – if not for the demonstrated arrogance and disregard for the rule of law of the current corrupt inept Cheney/Bush administration.
